The local Tla’o’qui’aht people, along with the Friends of Clayoquot Sound, blockaded attempted logging operations on Meares Island in 1984, which triggered off the ensuring decades of environmental protests to protect ancient forests in BC. Shirt #2 1993 - Largest peaceful civil disobedience in Canadian history is sparked by BC government's decision to log 74% of Clayoquot Sound's ancient forest. FOCS opens Peace Camp at "Black Hole". Daily blockades and arrests begin at Kennedy River Bridge. 856 arrested (including children) and 12,000 participate during "Clayoquot Summer 93". Colour: Green
